"There is a need to revamp the school management committees with majority representation of staff, old students, local academicians and parents with quarterly review and planning meetings so that every aspect of education goes as per the norms, rules and standards. The schools are meant for children –not the other way round – and, they are needed to be seen as communities of learners with the CBSE and the school management committees as the support system rather than insensitive control systems," commented Prabha Kishore, a Jaipur based retired teacher after reading the news in the press.
The CBSE has already laid down the norms of section size, number of classrooms and the ratio of the students per teacher. The schools have been provided the directive for registration of classes 9 and 11 first, followed by that of students of classes 10 and 12. However, there is no local system of checks and balances as well as support for academic excellence by learners.
The CBSE has also notified changes in class 12 English question paper in the 2019 public examination. The changes have been introduced for English (Core) examination so that schools can take measures to prepare their students well by improving their classroom instruction and internal examination system.
