Jaipur's Sindhi community celebrates 133th birth aniniversary of Bhagat Kanwar Ram
The 133th birth anniversary of Bhagat Kanwar Ram – Sindhi singer and Sufi poet – was celebrated in Jaipur by organizing the state-level cultural and religious function under the auspices of the Pujaya Sindhi Pachachat in Malviya Nagar locality of the city on April 16.

The event was marked by maha-arati, singing of devotional songs, display of jhankis and cultural show which was attended by political leaders of the state and prominent citizens. Also, a community meal was also organised on the occasion. The singers wore long kurtas and a red head gear like him and sang and danced. Further, the anniversary was marked with certain social welfare activities.

Bhagat Kanwar Ram is considered to be saint-martyr by the Sindhi community and revered as a great singer and Sufi poet. It is said that he was assassinated in communal riots in Sukkur in December 1939.

Bhagat Kanwar Ram (13th April 1885 – 1 November 1939) was born at village Jarwar of Sakhar (Shakur) district in Sindh, now in Pakistan. It is believed that his soulful music used to make the listeners forget everything. Also, he was a generous and compassionate person. He used to distribute all the offerings amongst the poor and needy.
