KKR's erstwhile skipper Gautam Gambhir who now leads the Daredevils, will play at his former home ground for the first time in this season.
KKR began season 11 of the Indian Premier League with a terrific win against the Royal Challengers Bangalore but have since lost their last two games on the trot. Under their new skipper Dinesh Karthik, KKR could have converted those two defeats into wins with a slightly better performance.
Another concern for them is injuries, which continue to deplete the outfit. With lesser choice in the batting and bowling departments, Karthik will face difficulty in selecting the playing 11 for the match. In a relief for KKR, Sunil Narine has proved to be a lethal weapon for them. Narine has given perfect starts to KKR since the commencement of IPL 2018. The team would hope that his good form continues in today's match too.
On the other hand, after successive defeats in their first two matches of IPL 2018, Delhi Daredevils managed to open their account chasing down 194 against the Mumbai Indians. Having clinched a final-ball thriller against Mumbai, Delhi will be riding high on confidence. With Gautam Gambhir leading the team who perfectly understands the conditions at Eden Gardens, DD will look to make the most out of his experience. However, a big concern for DD is that both their spin bowlers Shahbaz Nadeem and Amit Mishra are yet to deliver as per expectations.
