Minor rape victim's parents booked for taking Rs 5 lakh as bribe to withdraw case
In a case of daring courage, a minor rape victim has filed a case against her parents for allegedly taking money from the accused to 'settle' gang rape case.

As per a report in the Times of India, an accused who was out on bail had offered Rs 20 lakh to the victim's mother in return of withdrawal of the case from the court.

The victim has alleged that her parents tried to force her to change her statement in court. According to the girl, her parents wanted her to give a statement in favour of the two men who are accused of raping her. The girl's mother has been arrested and sent to judicial custody. The police are on the hunt to arrest her father as well who is on the run. The victim has also alleged that when she refused to change her statement, the parents beat her up as well.

The victim had gone missing on August 30 last year. Her parents had filed a missing complaint and she returned home after a week. She later informed the police that she was held captive by two men, including a local property dealer, who after raping her, abandoned her on a secluded spot.

The girl had alleged that she was taken to multiple place during captivity including Noida and Ghaziabad. The two men were arrested by the police and the trail in the case is ongoing in the court. One of the accused who was out on bail approached the victim's parents and offered them money to settle the case.

According to the Delhi Police, the girl was aware that her parents had agreed to settle the case with the accused for Rs 20 lakh and had accepted Rs 5 lakh as advance. The 15-year-old girl approached the police with a wad of notes initially thought to be Rs 3 lakh. But on counting, it was found to be a Rs 4.96 lakh bundle.

"On April 10, her parents were away in court when the girl decided to report the matter to the police. She knew that the money was hidden under the bed. She picked up the cash and without counting it, reached the Prem Vihar police chowki," said the investigating officer.

The girl has now been handed over to the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), which sent her to a children's home.
