Pope Francis greets pilgrims and visitors taking part in Ash Wednesday observance at the Vatican City
On the occasion of Ash Wednesday on February 14, Pope Francis greeted pilgrims and visitors taking part in today's Ash Wednesday observance at the Vatican City and wished them and their families a holy and fruitful season of Lent. He wished, "May God bless you all!"

According to media reports, over 10,000 people from all over the world gathered to see the Pope in St. Peter's Square on Ash Wednesday despite the heavy rain in Vatican City. "The day is a little rainy, but if the soul is joyful it's always a good morning!" he said.

During his Wednesday's General Audience, Pope Francis continued his catechesis on the Holy Mass with a focus on the profession of faith, it was reported.

The Pope said that the creed acted as a bridge between the sacraments of baptism and the Eucharist and Catholics needed to reflect on what they've heard and received, preparing their hearts and minds for communion.

According to him, Apostles' Creed may be appropriately integrated during Lent; believers must join in prayer and trust that God will take care of people's various needs.

According to Christianity, as explained by Fr Antony Kadavil, Ash Wednesday message is that the followers are invited to effect a real conversion and renewal of life during the period of Lent by fasting, penance, and reconciliation.
